The San Antonio Brett Favres
It has been brought to my attention that for 2 seasons (1984 and 1985) the USFL had a team named the San Antonio Gunslingers.
I've been doing research to attempt to link the naming of the franchise to Brett Favre. Nothing yet.

NBA All-Star Voting Oddities
Taking a look at the leading vote-getters for the NBA All-Star game I have seen only a few surprises and injustices.
The not so surprising:
The shocking:
I just didn't see Dampier as being this popular to get the third most votes at his position while having a very mediocre season. And it is not like the Mavs are blowing people and teams away.

The not so surprising:
- Eastern Conference (Guards) -- Wade is still the leading vote-getter although he might be having the most disappointing season out of anyone in the NBA.
- Eastern Conference (Centers) -- On the same note, Shaq is second despite being in the same boat as Wade. You can't dispute them being in the game because they have been and are obvious superstars but there is no way they deserve it over some of the other contenders.
The shocking:
- Western Conference (Centers) -- This is the biggest injustice for me. Erik Dampier is the third leading vote-getter. He is ahead of, most notably, Camby, Gasol and a personal favorite of mine LaMarcus Aldridge.

1920's reporter vs Patriots
I don't know how I missed this until now. Come to think of it Roy Williams was doing the 'charleston' on that Stallworth reception.
Can this guy please replace Parcells on NFL Countdown?

"...no class at all. Absolutely no class."
As if LT didn't make himself look stupid enough by opening his big mouth after his playoff loss last season against the Patriots -- now look what his teammates are up to yet again.
Notice the score to the game at the beginning of the video. The Chargers have proven over the past few years to be very unlikeable, at least in my eyes.
Merriman is a juicer and on top of that is one of the biggest show boaters in the league. When LT spoke up after their loss to the Patriots last year that was the first time I have ever heard the All-Pro act like a leader and what an awful time to start.
The Chargers had been jawing all week and during the game, but LT is going to take offense to the winning team celebrating a closely contended game AFTER the victory by doing YOUR teammates ridiculous celebration dance?
Needless to say that was when I lost all respect for LT. He should be a team leader with that talent but you never see him doing anything but padding his own statistics. The team has so, so much young talent but somehow the team just can't take the next step. It would seem to be a leadership and management issue because it certainly is not a personnel issue.
The only thing more atrocious than LT's attitude is the Chargers front office. Good thing the Cromartie gamble payed off big time because the overhaul of the coaching staff certainly has not.
It just seems like a very hate-able organization at this point. An organization with no direction that would seemingly be happy just winning the division. Which brings up the point why fire Marty then? He was achieving your organizations goals.

"And I can't sit there and watch that. And so, yeah, I was very upset. And just the fact that they showed no class at all. Absolutely no class. And maybe that comes from their head coach. So you know, there you have it."

More Christmas Wishes
I suggest hanging on and watching past the 50 second mark for 'Sheed's solo.
Was Rasheed high? You make the call.

Live by the Vikings, Die by the Vikings (a.k.a. Tavaris Jackson sucks)
In fantasy, I chose to start both Peterson and Taylor again. A strategy that worked the last couple times I used it but I forgot to take one thing into account; Tavaris Jackson sucks. Minnesota is a great story and generally a fun team to watch but they are going nowhere in the playoffs. You know why? Because Tavaris Jackson sucks. I know it was supposedly a "shoulder injury" that forced him to transfer from Arkansas to Alabama State but I would also bet that Houston Nutt came to the realization that Tavaris Jackson sucks. I mean, Alabama State? That's D-II! You couldn't play in a 1AA program?
Look at his numbers from Alabama State. He threw 64 TD's and 26 INT's in DIVISION II! The Viking's liked these numbers so much that they traded 2 3rd round picks for the 2nd round pick they used to take Jackson (at least they got the pick in on time thought, right?). Why? Well, Jackon did boast an impressive 4.72 40-time. Who gives a fuck? He's a quarterback. Maybe they should have made him take the Wonderlic instead.
Lastly, the ASU campus is located in Montgomery, Alabama on JACKSON ST. Coincidence? I think not. Go Hornets!

"That is exactly what I see with Tarvaris Jackson, a guy who is a piece of clay and has all the skills." -Brad ChildressI'll take bets regarding which round the Vikings take a QB this year. When Woodson, Brohm or Ryan fall to them I won't blame them for grabbing them.

Fantasy Football Championship
It's fantasy championship weekend for most leagues. Most games are probably decided (unless you have LT or hey maybe even Jay Cutler).
As for my fantasy team it has been a very closely contended race. However my run to becoming a champion has once again been stopped short at the goal line. Just like last year I lost in the championship game. Last year I went undefeated until my first loss in the championship game. Although this year I was not nearly as dominating I made it back to the big dance; only to be defeated again.
The numbers:
In the last two seasons I am a combined 21-7. Not bad. The sad thing is I am slowly becoming the Buffalo Bills of the early 90's -- just happy to be in the championship and not showing up when I get there.
I do want to add that in the middle of these two semi-successful seasons, I did win the fantasy baseball league in a upset (I was the #2 team for those who do not remember). So I have that going for me.
It's hard to swallow this defeat but in fantasy there is always not only next year but hey baseball is only 5 months away.
